Office 2016 support: what it means
Microsoft ended support for Office 2016 on 14 October 2025, on the same day as Office 2019. It keeps working and you can still install and activate it, but Microsoft no longer fixes security problems in it. Office 2016 makes sense when price matters most; for a supported version, choose Office 2021 (support end date 13 October 2026) or Office 2024 (until 9 October 2029).
How to install and activate Office 2016
- Uninstall any other version of Office, including trial versions.
- Go to setup.office.com, sign in with your Microsoft account and redeem your key.
- Download Office from your account and install it.
- Open Word and activate online. The 5-PC key is installed from our download link and activated online on each PC.
