What is Project Professional 2016?

Project Professional 2016 is the full edition of Microsoft’s project planning app for Windows, and the lowest-priced Project we sell. It covers task scheduling, Gantt charts, resources, costs and reports. Project 2016 added multiple timelines with custom date ranges and the Tell Me search box. The Professional edition adds Team Planner, inactive tasks and a connection to Project Online and Project Server.

Project 2016 support status

Microsoft ended support for Project 2016 on 14 October 2025. It still installs, activates and works, but Microsoft no longer releases security updates for it. Newer versions: Project 2019 Professional and Project 2021 Professional.

License and activation

This is a retail Project Professional 2016 key for one PC. You redeem it on Microsoft’s official website, setup.office.com, with your Microsoft account, then download Project from Microsoft and activate it online.

How to install and activate Project 2016

1. Uninstall older Project versions from the PC.
2. Go to setup.office.com, sign in with your Microsoft account, enter the key and select Redeem.
3. Download Project from your account and install it, in the same 32-bit or 64-bit version as your Office.
4. Open Project. If the activation wizard appears, choose “I want to activate the software over the Internet”.

If activation fails

• “This product key can’t be used”: check that you typed the key exactly as in the email.
• Setup stops because of Office: Project has to match the 32-bit or 64-bit version of your Office installation.
• Anything else: contact us within 15 days of your order, on live chat or at support@cheapkeys.io. We’ll fix it or replace the key, and if no working solution is possible, you get a refund under our refund policy.
