What you get

After payment you receive a 25-character Windows Server 2025 Datacenter product key by email, instantly in most cases (a system delay can occasionally add 5–10 minutes). The email includes the download link and the installation and activation steps below, and the key is also saved under My Account → Keys.

License: cores, virtual machines and CALs

• One key licenses one physical server with up to 16 cores. A server with more cores needs additional licenses.
• Datacenter lets you run unlimited virtual machines with Hyper-V on that server.

How to install Windows Server 2025 Datacenter

1. Download the Windows Server 2025 ISO from the Microsoft Evaluation Center (free, after a short registration).
2. Install it and choose Windows Server 2025 Datacenter (Desktop Experience) for the full desktop, or the option without “Desktop Experience” for Server Core.
3. The server now runs as a 180-day evaluation. Activate it with your key as shown below; there’s no need to reinstall.

How to activate Windows Server 2025 Datacenter

1. Open Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator.
2. Run this command with your key:
   DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula
3. Restart the server when asked. It converts to the full Datacenter edition and activates online.
4. Check the result in Settings > System > Activation or Server Manager > Local Server, or run slmgr /dlv.

Already running a full (non-evaluation) copy of Datacenter? Enter the key with slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and activate with slmgr /ato.

Planning a domain controller? Convert and activate the server first, then promote it.

If activation fails

• Key not accepted: check that the server runs Windows Server 2025 Datacenter (a Standard installation needs a Standard key, or the DISM command above to switch editions) and that you typed the key exactly as in the email.
• No internet connection: activation is online, so the server needs internet access.
• Anything else: contact us within 15 days of your order, on live chat or at support@cheapkeys.io. We’ll fix it or replace the key, and if no working solution is possible, you get a refund under our refund policy.

How many virtual machines can I run?

As many as your hardware can handle. Datacenter has no limit on Hyper-V virtual machines on the licensed server.

How many cores does the key cover?

Yes. Convert it with the DISM command above. There’s no need to reinstall.

Are CALs included?
