Windows Server 2025 Standard Key

What you get

After payment you receive a 25-character Windows Server 2025 Standard product key by email, instantly in most cases (a system delay can occasionally add 5–10 minutes). The email includes the download link and the installation and activation steps below, and the key is also saved under My Account → Keys.

License: cores, virtual machines and CALs

• One key licenses one physical server with up to 16 cores. A server with more cores needs additional licenses.
• Standard edition lets you run 2 virtual machines with Hyper-V on that server. For more virtual machines, choose Windows Server 2025 Datacenter (unlimited).
• Retail license, activated online.
• Client access licenses (CALs) are sold separately. Microsoft’s licensing requires them for the users or devices that connect to the server, and RDS CALs for Remote Desktop users.

How to install Windows Server 2025

1. Download the Windows Server 2025 ISO from the Microsoft Evaluation Center (free, after a short registration).
2. Install it and choose Windows Server 2025 Standard (Desktop Experience) for the full desktop, or the option without “Desktop Experience” for Server Core.
3. The server now runs as a 180-day evaluation. Activate it with your key as shown below; there’s no need to reinstall.

How to activate Windows Server 2025 Standard

1. Open Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator.
2. Run this command with your key:
   DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula
3. Restart the server when asked. It converts to the full Standard edition and activates online.
4. Check the result in Settings > System > Activation or Server Manager > Local Server, or run slmgr /dlv.

Already running a full (non-evaluation) copy of Standard? Enter the key with slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and activate with slmgr /ato.

Planning a domain controller? Convert and activate the server first, then promote it.

If activation fails

• Key not accepted: check that the server runs Windows Server 2025 Standard (a Datacenter installation needs a Datacenter key, and a Server 2022 installation needs a Server 2022 key) and, for an evaluation copy, use the DISM command above.
• No internet connection: activation is online, so the server needs internet access.
• Anything else: contact us within 15 days of your order, on live chat or at support@cheapkeys.io. We’ll fix it or replace the key, and if no working solution is possible, you get a refund under our refund policy.
